Southeast Lake Ontario
Sail for Hospice
Friday, June 24 - Saturday, June 25th 2022
The Sodus Bay Yacht Club was pleased to host this year's Hospice Regatta with the Oswego Yacht Club.
Again the regatta supported Pines of Peace Comfort Care Home (Ontario, NY,) Laurel House Comfort Care Home (Newark,) and Friends of Oswego Hospice.
This year the weather cooperated and we were able to get in all three races, with fun sailing and keen competition. The 1st annual Radio Control Sailing Regatta struggled with light winds but still provided great fun Friday night. The Penningtons and friends fueled us with a great chicken dinner so that we could dance to the tunes of Art Bronstien and the Baby Boomers.
We had 24 boats sail the regatta. Pultneyville sent the most non SBYC boats --5. The farthest participant came from Selkirk --William Walton with Jeff Heidman a close second from Newport YC .
CONGRATULATIONS TO OZ AND TOM DORAN FROM OYC - THE OVERALL WINNER WHO WILL REPRESENT THE REGATTA AT THE NATIONAL EVENT IN 2023 AND JEFF HEIDMAN WHO IS THE ALTERNATE AND WHO WON THE WHITE SAIL OVERALL.
We're excited to plan the first annual Radio Control Regatta supporting hospice!

Hospice/Challenge Cup Tee Shirts.
We hope that you enjoyed our variety of Tee Shirts intended to celebrate the one and only combined Sail for Hospice and Challenge Cup Regatta. We truely appreciated your patience while we adjusted our sails inorder to have both events this year.
You don't need to race in order to donate to the cause. This year’s proceeds will be split between Friends of Oswego Hospice, and the 2 Hospice homes in Wayne County – Pines of Peace, and Laurel House. Please consider donating and make an impact with your gift.
Remembrance
This event will be in memory of GINNY GARY. Ginny was instrumental in the inception of Friends of Oswego County Hospice and the Oswego Hospice Cup Regatta. Sadly, Ginny passed away in December. You have left us with some wonderful memories Ginny. We will all “do our best under the circumstances”
John Gary will be sailing on Crusader.
